Day 28: Daily Routine

Decided to edit this post and take my address off, I can just be dumb sometimes!
I'm usually the first one to get home in the afternoons.  I walk up the stairs, drop all my things either on the couch or table, stop by the restroom if needed and then out the door (rain or shine) to check the mail.  Oh yea, somewhere in there I take off my shoes.  I'm always barefooted going to the mailbox, no reason just get tired of my shoes I guess.  I have to be extremely tired to not check the mail in the afternoons.  I'm not usually expecting anything wonderful just the daily junk but I love to get mail, even bills.  I'm so ocd about paying bills on time and balancing the check book and seeing what could go to savings that I don't even mind getting bills.  Oh, the power bill - that one is like a game to me, lets see if it's lower than last year, or last month... how can I lower the power bill?  lol  It's all a bit ridiculous but that's how my mind works, everything is like a game or competition and I don't like to lose.  Hey, I have no trouble admitting my faults!

Look at this pretty package my mom sent, it was a really exciting day yesterday when I got this!  She and I went shopping a few weekends ago for some new clothes that don't cut off my circulation but a few needed to be altered.  It's way less to get things altered in Monroeville than here so she mailed them to me when they were done.  Fun!  In college she mailed me "happy's" on holidays or during finals or just because - this is probably why I love to check the mail.  You never know when you might get a "happy" :)

Day 27: After Dark

Do you see him??  Every night after dark Cooper sits at the back door and stares (and stares and stares) hoping that one of us will let him in, he isn't even allowed upstairs only in the basement.  He does not think he is a dog even though we totally treat him like one.  The only time this stare down works is in the winter when it's cold and he can throw the shivering in with the staring.  While I'm on maternity leave I'm seriously considering some blinds so he won't do this all day.  I mean right now it's pouring rain and he is sitting there instead of under the deck where it's nice and dry (both dogs were in the basement until they got in trouble for misbehaving and are now back outside - we're not completely heartless, I promise!)

Day 26: Something Old

This is a much better post.  It caused me to really think about something old that I actually liked.  Alot of times, I get bored with old things but not this one.  This is a civil war chest that was passed down from lots of (I don't remember how many) generations but the one I remember most is my great grandmother.  I'm not sure where the name originated but I've always known it as my "hope chest".  It was really in bad shape when my great grandmother had it so my great grandfather refurbished the inside lining and made it much more usable again (it does still smell kind of old but that's can't be changed).  He refurbished and made all sorts of furniture, very interesting and creative man.  The story of the hope chest is that is to be passed down to the oldest daughter and while she's growing up it gets filled with items from her childhood or items to prepare her for adulthood.   For a while, mine had all my mom's wedding things in it (as it does mine right now as you can see from the picture) and then she started to fill it with things that she might have an extra of that I could use in college (towels in the top part of the pic) or for my first house with my husband.  It's always a joke for the grandmothers to tease their granddaughters and say it's a hopeless chest.  The chest is really heavy and kind of a pain to keep moving around but I love the idea behind it and how old it is.  We have it in our bedroom as a TV stand but one day maybe Anna Katherine will love to fill it with things for her :)  If not, that's ok.  Mom never pushed it on me and I won't do that to her but I'll be sure to pass along the story and it can be her choice :)

Here it is as our TV stand

Day 25: Sunflare?

Hard to do on a mostly cloudy day... I was feeling way more creative at the beginning but I'm not liking the topics to post lately.  I'm having a hard time keeping up when the pics are more difficult to take.  I haven't read ahead, I go day by day so we'll see what tomorrow holds!

Day 24: Smile

They are definitely smiling.  Can't just post one and not the other.
